You can also check out my blog to see new designs in progress and make comments. It may help you to see what other Brides chose for their wedding - then contact me to tell me your ideas!
Remember you can have the original colour or change the colours to suit you, change the sleeves, or add embroidery etc.
OR designs can be combined to create something unique and personal to you! I can even create a special bespoke design just for you!
There is no obligation or hard sell. At the studio you can see/try on dress/corset samples, discuss embroidery or other details, and of course discuss your ideas . . . This time is our chance to get to know one another and to discuss what you would like. We can look at pictures and what inspires you! I will draw out some designs based on these and a rough price estimate will be given.
Confirmation of Booking - we do the paperwork and you pay the deposit of 1/3rd of total (cash or UK cheque) - this deposit is unrefundable. (I reserve the right to amend the quote/invoice to take into account any price changes from fabric or other suppliers). Measurements are taken and fittings arranged. Accessories can be chosen at consultation or later fittings. Afterwards I will draw out your chosen design - in colour - and give/post you a copy.
Prices for standard designs are shown on the website. Prices may vary depending on complexity eg if you add on embroidery or if you order a bespoke, unique design. The process of made-to-measure garment making is a time consuming one. The following is included in the price;
- all consultations/fittings at my studio and mockups sent out in post
- all chosen fabric
- all labour costs
- all reasonable alterations necessary to ensure the perfect fit.
Fittings - You will need to bring your shoes and any bra or corseted underwear not supplied by myself that you intend to wear under your wedding dress, It will be necessary for all fittings as these will affect your shape, size and posture.
1st Fitting - normally 6 months in advance of the wedding. First fitting of the toile (mock-up) pattern - adjustments made if necessary to ensure fit. Please note - major style changes at later fittings - once the toile is complete may incur additional cost.
2nd Fitting - will depend on the complexity of the design and the outcome of the first fitting, either another altered toile or the actual fabric.
Final Fitting & collection - when your order is complete and ready for collection you will need to attend for a final try-on (dress rehersal fitting) with shoes and jewellrey/veil etc. I will take photographs at this fitting for my portfolio. Completion is normally 2-4 weeks in advance of your wedding. I include a free garment cover.
Collecting or retaining any part of the order is assumed as satisfaction with the total order. Client is responsible for incorrect fit after this time. All garments are completed as per final fitting, any additional alterations (if possible) after this time will be subject to an additional fee payable in advance. Gothik Designs retains copyright, right to display, publish, exhibit etc any item, image or design element.
Deposit and payment methods - for all clients either UK or non-UK. A deposit of a minimum of 1/3rd of the order will be required on signing your contract. The deposit is non-refundable and confirms your booking, it is then taken off the final total of your order. You will be given/sent a coloured sketch of your dress and fabric and/or embroidery samples.
Balance is payable in full or by 2 instalments - due at the first and second fittings (or equivalent mock-ups by post) either by cash, UK cheque or direct bank payment. Non-UK clients will need to do a bank transfer or direct payment into my business account. I do not charge VAT at present. All items remain the property of Gothik Designs until paid in full in cleared funds. Please make UK cheques payable to 'Debi Lysaght'.
International clients eg USA - are responsible for any additional state/country taxes.
Timescale - Varies depending on the individual's circumstances and design chosen.
Fabric and Embroidery samples -After the contract is signed/returned and the deposit is paid I will give/send you samples of the fabrics to be used for your dress or a selection if you are choosing from a few colours. I always work samples when embroidery forms part of the design. This ensures your dress looks as you imagined it and allows for development of the design. These samples remain my property.
Cancellation - If due to unforeseen circumstances, you are unable to proceed with the order, any outstanding payment(s) will be at my sole discretion - please contact me as soon as you know you may be in this situation. However, if the garment(s) has reached completion or fabric stage then full payment will be required.
Storage of garment(s) - For all clients - the cleaning, storage and preservation of the garment(s) is the client’s responsibility. Do not store the garment(s) in the included free garment bag – this is to be used for transportation only. For storage before the event/wedding I advise that the garment(s) is removed completely from the garment bag and left to air – away from pets/animals etc, direct sunlight, damp and other conditions etc and checked regularly. Garments should be cleaned by a reputable dry cleaner and stored appropriately eg boxed (acid free) with acid free tissue - please contact me for details of a reputable supplier of storage boxes.

Confirmation of Booking - is done by email or post. I will confirm that I have received your order and if I have the availability to make your dress, send costings, contract etc. (I reserve the right to amend the quote/invoice to take into account any price changes from fabric or acccessory suppliers). If I have not received your signed contract back by 4 weeks later then I will assume that you do not wish to go ahead. If paying by cheque (UK clients only) you can send this with the contract/order form.
After signing the paperwork and paying the desposit and/or balance your wedding order will then be made to your measurements, in the design, fabrics and colours you have chosen. Accessories can be chosen with the dress order or added later.
Measurements - take your measurements and email them to me (you are responsible for these so be honest!). Wear your 'wedding bra or corseted underwear' and shoes as these will affect your shape.size and posture.
Fittings - I make a toile/mock up and send it by post to check the style/fit. Return it to me (postage and any charges/taxes payble by client) and I complete your order in your chosen fabrics. This may be done a couple of times.
Delivery- delivery options can be chosen with your initial order. Boxed and with a free garment cover all garments are completed as per measurements/final mock-up, the client is responsible for incorrect fit after this time.
